“Oh Bastian…” Ruby felt something break open in her chest and she sobbed, rushing toward him. “I’m sorry! I’m so stupid. I thought Mira was… someone else… I—”

Bastian let out a cry that shuddered through her as she neared his chair. He grabbed her with greedy hands that roamed over her clothes, giving a low, frustrated growl to find her still dressed as he pulled her into his lap. He was completely nude and fully ready for her. His cock felt like an iron bar against her as his mouth claimed hers.

“Are you ready for me? Are you wet?” he croaked when he let her catch her breath, his hands shoving her skirt up her bare thighs. She was still wearing what she’d worn to the office the day before, although she’d taken her shoes off when she’d entered his apartment. “I don’t want you tear you, but I have to have you. Fuck. Now.”

“Oh God! Yes! Yes!” She moaned when his fingers found her, parting her quickly to check. She’d been through such an emotional roller coaster, she didn’t expect her body’s response, but she was wet. Instantly-fucking-wet, like someone had turned on a faucet.

  It’s him.

It was, she realized, not protesting at all as he tore her blouse open with both hands and buried his face against her breasts. But not just him, she knew, straddling him, skirt up around her waist—it was them. Together. Their bond. It made her want him as much as he wanted her.

“I need you,” he groaned, his teeth raking her skin, making her cry out and fist his thick, dark hair in her hands. “I won’t hurt you?”

“Fuck me.” Her own voice was something she didn’t recognize, low and growly and insistent. “Put it in me. Oh God, please, take me!”

His fingers dug deep into the flesh of her hips as he drove his cock into her. Ruby’s head went back, her eyes closing as a keening, animal sound escaped her throat. He filled her completely, made her whole in a way she’d never known possible.

“Look at me, Ruby,” he insisted, grabbing a hand full of her hair and bringing her face close to his as he impaled her. His eyes caught hers, held her, his cock pulsing with heat and barely-contained force. “Do you know what you mean to me?”

“Yes,” she cried, nodding, feeling his hand tighten in her hair, pulling her face to his so he could capture her mouth for a long, probing kiss.

“You don’t know,” he growled as they parted, his breath harsh, panting. “But I’m going to show you, since you clearly don’t believe anything I tell you.”

“Bastian, I—” That was all she managed before he covered her mouth again with his, sliding his hands down to grasp both of hers and clasping them behind her back as he fucked her up toward the ceiling with hard, fast thrusts. She couldn’t catch her breath, Bastian licking, sucking, biting at her lips, his hips driving upward, shoving himself so deeply inside her that it made her ache.

“Oh fuck, Ruby,” he gasped as she wiggled on his erection, trying to get him even deeper, if that was possible, in spite of the twinge it gave her. “What you fucking do to me…”

He grabbed her around the waist and surged upward, sailing her over to the bed in one, swift motion. He tossed her onto the bed and Ruby cried out when he slipped out of her, fumbling with her clothes, tearing them off her. But it wasn’t long before he was turning her onto her belly and shoving into her from behind, filling her again and again with the steel heat of his flesh.

“Bastian!” she cried, feeling her pussy spasm with need. He grunted as he slammed into her from behind, his hands everywhere at once, running over her body as if he could memorize her like a man reading Braille.

“Ahhhh Ruby!” He gasped and thrust deep, flattening her onto the mattress, the crushing weight of him making her arch up in an attempt to catch her breath. His breath panted hot against her ear and he moved her hair out of the way, grabbing another handful so he could turn her head and make sure she was listening to him.

“You’re mine,” he growled, his hips still now, keeping her teetering on the edge of ecstasy. “Say it.”

“I’m yours,” she whispered, her body giving in to him completely. She felt weightless, boneless. Completely joined with him.

  “Louder.”

“I’m yours!” She didn’t care that his sister could probably hear her. She didn’t care if his whole damned planet heard her, light years away. “Oh, fuck, yes! Bastian, I’m yours! I’m all yours!”

He withdrew and Ruby sighed, nearly sobbing at the loss of his cock, but then he was turning her over again, sliding into her with perfect aim, cradling her beneath him as he moved on top of her.

“I love you, Ruby,” he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. “I can’t live without you. I won’t. You’re mine. Now and forever.”

“Oh my God, yes,” she cried, lifting her hips to meet his, feeling her body open to him like it never had with anyone else, man or alien. She belonged to him, and there was nothing she could do about it, even if she’d wanted to. It was completely out of her control.

“Look at me,” he urged, driving harder, deeper, the two of them completely in sync. “That’s it. Look at me, Ruby. You know you belong to me.”

“Yes,” she whimpered, clutching his thickly muscled shoulders, wrapping her legs around his waist. “I’m yours. Yours. Only yours.”

“Don’t tell me,” he growled, moving his hips in sweet, delicious circles, pleasure zinging through her like something alive. “Show me.”

“Ahhhhhhhh!” She moaned and bucked under him, giving him exactly what he wanted, letting him take her over the edge. Her pussy clamped around him, convulsing hard, her orgasm rocking them both.

“Fuck! Oh Ruby! Fuck!” Bastian arched and rose up as he filled her, not just with his flesh this time, but with white-hot bursts of his seed. He grabbed her to him, claiming her mouth, her pussy, every bit of her as his cock throbbed and jerked inside her.

“Ruby…” He nuzzled his face against her neck, hugging her to him so hard she thought he might break her ribs. She could hardly breathe. “Don’t you ever, ever leave me like that again. Do you understand?”

“Yes,” she squeaked, clinging to him.

“Promise me.” He pulled back so he could look at her. The fierce look in his eyes made her melt.

“I promise.” Ruby felt a tightness in her chest, heard the hitch in her voice.

He sighed, relaxing, lowering her to the mattress and pulling her hard against him. They spooned together on the bed, limbs twining as Bastian curled himself protectively around her.

“Do you believe me now?” he asked, brushing her hair away from her cheek and kissing the shell of her ear.

“I do.” She smiled at herself. What had she been thinking, doubting him that way? It had been her own fears, she realized. All her old insecurities and self-doubts surfacing. She’d used Mira’s appearance as an excuse to distance herself from the man she loved more than anything in the world—in the entire universe.

“Mmmm, I like hearing you say that.” Bastian’s hand moved over her belly, his finger dipping briefly into her navel. “Will you say it again?”

“I do?” She laughed. “I’ll say it all day long if you want. I believe you, Bastian. I believe you.”

“I’m not sure if you believe me enough yet,” he teased, and she felt him growing hard against her behind. “I think I need to prove it to you just a little more.”

“Don’t you ever get enough?” she asked, wiggling back against him anyway.

“No,” he insisted, grabbing her around the waist and pulling her roughly against him. “Never. You belong to me. Mine, Ruby. Mine. And I’m going to prove it to you.”

“I think you just did,” she replied, still smiling as her eyes fluttered closed. She had slept for hours, but she was somehow still tired, so relaxed and happy in his arms.

“Say it again,” he murmured, nibbling on her earlobe. “Just one more time.”

  “I’m yours.”

  “No… say ‘I do.’”

“I do?” she asked, puzzled. “I do bel
ieve you.”

“Marry me, Ruby.” His hand moved to clasp hers, their fingers twining. “I want to hear you say ‘I do.’ Isn’t that what humans say to be married?”

“Are you serious?” She rolled quickly toward him, her gaze searching his face.

“Yes.” He nodded. “I’ve already bonded you to me… but I realized tonight, that you don’t have any… what’s the word? You don’t have any context for that. We have bonded in a way that my world understands, but we are living in your world, Ruby. I want you to be mine in every world.”

“Oh Bastian.” Ruby threw her arms around his neck, trembling with emotion. She couldn’t stay anything. Her throat was too tight.

“I want you to be my wife,” Bastian told her, loosening her hold so he could look at her. “As well as my bonded mate. Will you do that, Ruby? Will you marry me?”

“Oh Bastian,” she cried again, kissing him, feeling the smile on his lips.

“Is that a yes?” he asked when they parted.

“Yes! I will,” she breathed. “I do.”

“Good.” He sounded pleased with himself as he tucked her head beneath his chin and drew her close. “That’s settled then. No more leaving.”

“No more leaving,” she agreed, snuggling against him. “But…”

“But?” he asked as the silence stretched. “But what? No buts…”

“I’m still scared,” she confessed, her voice low and small. She hated admitting that to him, but she didn’t want to keep it from him, either.

His arms tightened around her. “Scared of what?”

  “You. Us. This.”

“Why are you scared?” His lips brushed her forehead, warm and soft.

“Because I don’t know how long eternity is.” Ruby sighed. “And however long it is… it will never be enough.”

Bastian chuckled, then he sighed, kissing the top of her head again.

“What’s so funny?” Ruby asked, poking him in the ribs. “Me being scared is funny to you?”

“No.” He shifted on the bed, pushing her to her back with his body, nuzzling her neck as he trailed a hand down her belly. “When you’re bonded—or married, in your world—you’re always scared.”

  “What? Why?”

“You scared the hell out of me tonight.” He swallowed, his fingertips grazing lightly over her skin, making her shiver. “Loving makes us vulnerable. You can hurt me more than anyone, Ruby. You have all of me.”

“And you have all of me,” Ruby assured him, feeling the truth of it radiating out of her in waves. She belonged to him and always would, no matter what happened.

“The only way to not let it frighten you is to stay,” he told her, his hand moving between her thighs to cup her sex. She moaned softly, feeling that incessant, throbbing heat beginning. “Together. Be together. There is no time where I am from. There is only now and now is forever.”

  “I still don’t understand that.”

“You don’t need to understand it, Ruby,” he murmured, his finger slipping inside her, his cock hard against her hip. “You just need to accept it.”

“Mmmm, accept it. I think I can do that,” she breathed as he moved on top of her, into her. Her pussy opened to him and she smiled, putting her arms around his neck. “You really never do get enough, do you?”

“Never.” He kissed her softly, breathing her in. “I will always want you. Eternity is now and forever. However long that is, on this planet, or any other.”

  Purity by Evangeline Anderson

  Chapter One

K knew she was dead the minute she woke up.

Her death sentence was written in the neat row of black stitches marching along her inner thigh like orderly insects. The fact that she could see her own thigh—that it wasn’t obscured by the black mesh of her skinsuit—was her first clue, but stitches in her flesh clinched it.

She had been contaminated—maybe fatally so. Still, she hoped. She prayed to Purity that she might still remain untouched. She couldn’t remember anything—not the way she’d gotten the wound, or the person who had sewed it up. She didn’t even know how she’d ended up on a table in the small bare room with battered metal cabinets and chipped white countertops.

She only knew her head throbbed like a rotten melon about to burst and her suit was gone, leaving her helpless.

Get hold of yourself, K. You’re a fourth level Paladin. You can handle this. You can handle anything. Even being naked and alone, stripped of her weapons and defenses? Yes. She raised her chin and tried to examine the room where she found herself, though her vision kept wavering in and out of focus alarmingly. You’re not defenseless, she reminded herself.

Paladins went through rigorous physical training from the time they could walk and K was no exception. Looking down at herself she could see that her body, which she hadn’t seen nude since childhood when she had first been fitted for her skinsuit, was strong and lean. In fact, other than being considerably bigger—she was almost two meters, tall for a female—it looked much the same as it had back then.

Her chest was flat as a Paladin’s should be. Breasts only got in the way during combat, presenting the enemy with a sensitive target. She thanked Purity that hers were almost nonexistent, the nipples a pale, innocent pink that blended into the white of her skin. Glancing further down she noted that her hips were narrow and strong and her sex was barely noticeable—a colorless slit between her thighs. This was as it should be. Her body was strong—fit to fight—and that was all K ever asked of it. Nothing else was required.

K looked around. There was a flat metal panel bolted to one wall of the room. A viewscreen? It wasn’t transmitting anything at the moment and in its shiny surface she saw her face. The image staring back at her seemed strangely vulnerable without the cowl of the skinsuit to frame it. The thick blue-black cable of her hair—the only soft part of her—was still coiled in a braid at the back of her neck and her black-on-black eyes marked her level and achievements.

All Purists had black irises—it was a trait of their people. But as they progressed toward true Purity the black bled outward, obscuring the white sclera. It was a slow process and painful—it had cost K much to get where she was today with only a thin white ring around the outer perimeter of her eyes
. When she reached the fifth level and surrendered herself completely to Purity even that would be gone. She would be as cold and empty as space itself, hollow inside. A vessel filled with holy nothingness. It was what every Purist worked for tirelessly, though few achieved it.

There was one who had achieved it though—the High Sentinel. He had taken an early interest in K, making her his protégé despite her routine origin, a fact that would have pleased her immensely if she had still been subject to strong emotions. A Paladin of her level was not, however.
